A Young Woman Finds Freedom in the Democratic Republic of the Congo
My name is Njangosi Josephine. Very early, at the age of fourteen, I left my family to seek an easy life in the big city. There, I fell into prostitution. I lived day and night in the streets. Bars, hotels, and dark alleys became my everyday life. I learned to manipulate, lie, and steal.
On the outside, I appeared successful. I dressed well, ate well, and always had money. But inside, I was empty, broken, and deeply exhausted. I would spend entire nights without sleep, troubled by fear and shame.
For me, life was only about worldly pleasures. I did not want to hear about Jesus. Whenever someone spoke of God, I would get angry. Servants of God became my enemies. I even cut off contact with my uncle who prayed for me and tried to advise me.
One day, as I was getting ready to go to the place where I usually met my clients, two people knocked on my door. They left me a sheet of paper titled: “Where Are You?”
This question struck me deeply. Where was I really? I felt lost and broken! I decided to listen to God’s Word, and when I realized that Jesus could forgive me and give me a fresh start, I wept. That day, I made the greatest decision that I’ve ever made: I gave my life to Jesus Christ!
After receiving Christ, I understood that to avoid falling back into my old life, I had to make a bold choice. I chose to return to my father’s house, live with my mother, now a widow.
Today, we work together in a small restaurant. God has transformed my heart, removed me from my former life, given me a new way of thinking, and teaches me daily to walk in his ways. Now, I win souls for Christ and share my testimony with young girls and women.
Today, I no longer live for the world, but for Christ!
