A simple idea from a Creative Access Nation is helping believers carry the Light a world away.
Imagine you live on a quiet street in the Middle East. Your windows are open to let in the cool evening air, and you can hear the call to prayer radiating from a minaret. A neighbor shouts to the kids playing soccer in the street to watch out for cars. You look out at the apartment building across the street—a long, sand-colored rectangle. The only spots of color are the bits of laundry drying on balconies. As the lights come on, you realize how much you love this place…and these people. You love your country, even though it is fractured with violence and there are places that are threadbare with poverty. You love your neighbors, even though, if they knew you are a Christian, they might never speak to you again, or worse.
Maybe tonight is the night you walk across the street and start a conversation…
Despite being set on the other side of the world, this story may sound familiar. Wherever you live, you don’t have to go far to find brokenness and a heart in need of Christ’s love. But it can be difficult to find the courage and the right words to carry the Light within you to someone else.
To make it easier for believers to share the Good News of Christmas with their neighbors, one of Every Home’s local offices in a Restricted Nation in the Middle East created Christmas cards printed with gospel messages. Our team explained:
“In our nation, Christmas is shyly celebrated. We lack events, materials, and space to express the joy of the season. We are not allowed to celebrate publicly.”
Originally designed for a place where sharing about Jesus can be risky, Christmas cards can be a simple way for any believer to share Christ’s love with their neighbors. “It makes a great tool to start a faith talk, using the Scriptures as a spark,” our team in the Middle East says. “We will distribute this literature in Arabic and English to Christian congregations, and to Christians in prisons, deportation centers, and schools. And we have assigned volunteers to follow up with seekers through online forms.”
