In several countries in Eurasia, Every Home teams go out into the streets of their communities to share Jesus’s love with neighbors experiencing homelessness or extreme poverty.
This story comes from our team in Russia:
During a street outreach, we met a man with a cane. His name is Sergei. We gave him booklets, told him about Jesus, prayed for him, and invited to an evening church service.
Sergei came to the service. He was leaning on his cane, and it was obvious that his legs were sore. His hands were shaking, and he looked lost. We invited him to sit down. At the end of the service, he came forward and called Jesus Christ into his heart. Then he asked to pray for his sore feet. After the whole church prayed for him, he was healed!
Elvira, [one of the members of the church], had a strong desire to find Sergei again and help him. She searched for him for half a day and finally found him, standing in front of a store, drinking coffee and eating a pancake someone had given him. Without hesitation, he agreed to come with us. We bought him a set of new clothes.
Now, Sergei walks without his cane and begins to smile more.
We believe that, thanks to the support of a Church family, even the most deeply lost person can find hope. Our hearts are filled with joy for Sergei.
When Sergei’s friends saw him on the street without his cane, they began to ask what had happened. He said, “I went to church, and they prayed for me, and God healed me!”
So, Sergei’s friends ran to the church for a meeting the next day, and when there was an [altar] call, they responded.
