“The cancer journey is complex, scary, and unpredictable,” writes our team in Sicily. They have a ministry to the patients and families in a local pediatric oncology ward. “But when you have companions who share it, the soul can overcome much suffering.”
During a recent visit to the ward, our team brought toys, chocolate, coloring books, and gospel literature designed specifically for children. These small gifts brought “a smile in the midst of a storm,” our team shares. One of the families they met has a little boy with a tumor on his spine. The team prayed and shared Scripture with the family.
“In the midst of the storm of cancer, there is a lifeboat,” our team says, “the gospel that faces those waves, bringing hope.”
