I never thought I’d see the day when everyone at the grocery store would be wearing a mask. And yet, masks were the fashion this summer. It just goes to show that you can never be sure how things will change.

I’m reminded of another event that few believed would ever happen: the fall of the Berlin Wall.

The Cold War had stretched on for four decades. The USA and the USSR had nuclear weapons aimed at each other. Political tension was ever-present, and it seemed that conflict was inevitable. In the USSR, Christians were persecuted. In the USA, Christians prayed for peace. I even flew to Germany to personally pray over the wall that divided West Germany from the East, capitalist from communist, free from oppressed. The situation had been dire for so long, few believed that it would ever change.

And yet, in November 1989, I watched a news broadcast of citizens rejoicing as they took sledgehammers to that wall. And just two years later, on the day after Christmas in 1991, the Soviet Union was officially dissolved as a nation.

Some changes, like COVID-19, are difficult. Others, like the end of the Cold War, are answers to prayer. In either case, we can never be sure of how the world will change around us.

But we can be sure of is this: the Person and work of Jesus Christ. No matter what happens on a global scale, no matter what happens in our individual lives, Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever. He always loves. He always forgives. And He always works with His Church to reach the lost with His life-saving Gospel.

This month, we’re bringing you updates about our COVID-19 projects and how Every Home teams have adapted to our changing world in order to share God’s Word more effectively. As you read these short testimonies, I hope you’ll remember that you are a part of these stories. God uses friends like you to equip and encourage believers around the world as we share the Gospel.
